OUR MISSION IS SIMPLE BUT CRUCIAL.
TO PROMOTE INTEGRITY IN PUBLIC SERVICE, BUILD PUBLIC TRUST, AND ENSURE THAT PRIVATE INTERESTS DO NOT ENSURE WITH PUBLIC DUTIES.
WHAT SETS OUR COMMISSION APART IS ITS INDEPENDENCE.
WE OPERATE SEPARATELY FROM OTHER COUNTY OR MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENTS, AND OUR FIVE VOLUNTEER MEMBERS ARE APPOINTED BY INDEPENDENT ORGANIZATIONS.
THIS STRUCTURE ENSURES FAIR AND IMPARTIAL OVERSIGHT.
WE PROVIDE OVERSIGHT, ACCOUNTABILITY, AND TRANSPARENCY FOR MORE THAN 12,000 PUBLIC OFFICIALS, EMPLOYEES, AND ADVISORY BOARD MEMBERS, AS WELL AS CERTAIN VENDORS AND LOBBYISTS THROUGHOUT PALM BEACH COUNTY.
THE CODE OF ETHICS APPLIES NOT ONLY TO COUNTY GOVERNMENT, BUT ALSO TO ALL 39 MUNICIPALITIES, ENSURING THAT PUBLIC OFFICIALS AND EMPLOYEES ACT WITH INTEGRITY, INDEPENDENCE, AND IMPARTIALITY, AND THAT A PUBLIC OFFICE IS NEVER USED FOR PERSONAL GAIN.
BUT OUR ROLE IS NOT JUST ABOUT ENFORCEMENT, IT'S ABOUT PREVENTION.

THEY'VE HAD A WINE AND BEER LICENSE FOR AT LEAST FIVE YEARS NOW, NO INCIDENTS THAT I'M AWARE OF.
THERE'S A LOT OF PEOPLE THAT ATTEND THERE, A LOT OF POLITICAL PEOPLE, POWERFUL PEOPLE THAT GO INTO THAT RESTAURANT, AND IT WOULD BE IN THEIR BEST INTEREST TO BE ABLE TO SERVE REGULAR LIQUOR LIKE EVERY OTHER RESTAURANT IN THIS COMMUNITY.

LAST WEEK, OUR COMMUNITY RELATIONS TEAM ATTENDED THE FLORIDA MUNICIPAL COMMUNICATION ASSOCIATION ANNUAL CONFERENCE, I'M PROUD TO SHARE THAT THEY DIDN'T JUST ATTEND.
THEY ACTUALLY CAME HOME WITH SOME HARDWARE.
FIRST, THE COMMUNICATION PLAN DEVELOPED FOR OUR CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION WAS RECOGNIZED AS BEST IN STATE IN THAT CATEGORY.
THEY EARNED THE FMCAS OUTSTANDING AWARD FOR COMMUNICATIONS PLAN.
THIS HONOR IS REALLY A TESTAMENT TO THE TEAM'S CREATIVITY STRATEGY AND THE THOUGHTFUL WAY THEY ENGAGED OUR COMMUNITY IN THE WHOLE PROCESS OF CELEBRATING OUR HUNDREDS. THAT WASN'T ALL.
FOR THE SECOND YEAR IN A ROW, EVERY SINGLE MEMBER OF THE COMMUNITY RELATIONS TEAM RECEIVED THE FMCA CERTIFICATE OF EXCELLENCE FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT COMMUNICATOR, AS DID THE DEPARTMENT AND THE TOWN AS A WHOLE, WHICH EARNED THE 116 MUNICIPALITIES ACROSS THE ENTIRE STATE TO BE AWARDED THE MUNICIPAL CERTIFICATE OF EXCELLENCE AND COMMUNICATIONS.
THAT'S A RECOGNITION OF THE TEAM'S OUTSTANDING WORK IN SETTING A STANDARD FOR PUBLIC COMMUNICATION. VERY PROUD OF THEM.
THIS PAST WEEK, THE TOWN ALSO COMPLETED CONSTRUCTION OF TWO MORE OF OUR PEDESTRIAN ACTIVATED CROSSWALKS.
THOSE ARE LOCATED ON MAIN STREET BETWEEN UNIVERSITY BOULEVARD AND AVENUE A AND ON UNIVERSITY BOULEVARD BETWEEN A PIKA LANE AND INNOVATION WAY.
THIS BRINGS OUR TOTAL COMPLETED TO 11 AND A 12TH LOCATION ON LONGSHORE DRIVE IS PLANNED FOR JUNE.
WE ACTUALLY HAVE IDENTIFIED FOUR ADDITIONAL SITES TO BE PROPOSED FOR PHASE 2 OF THIS PROJECT, WHICH WILL BE COMING TO YOU IN THE FORM OF OUR UPCOMING CIP.
